NotYourDadsBeer posted this a while back after all of the uproar over people selling Founder’s “CBS” for ridiculously high prices on Ebay. Although they make a few decent points, they entirely neglect one of the biggest reasons breweries hate to see their beer sold online: Quality Control.
Imagine if you bought the most over-hyped beer out there from someone on Ebay and they hadn’t taken care of it at all. You would most likely get a skunky beer and a bad taste in your mouth about the brewery (all pun intended). People say that breweries give up QC as soon as it’s in the distributors hands, but distributors are professionals at distribution, the average Joe isn’t.
At the end of the day it’s all about perspective, but I’m siding with the breweries on this one!
